HeartS on Fire - Mixed Media Sculpture
Get ready to be engulfed with passion with our all new sculpture. Violet’s Garage is proud to present: HeartS on Fire. This sculpture has the design of a heart with its center lit on fire (as the name implies). The sculpture mixes the symbol of the heart and fire to create something new all together. The burning heart has many symbolizations throughout time and in this blog we will go over some of them.
Symbology and Meanings
1) Passion and Intensity: The burning heart often represents passion, love, or desire. It signifies a strong, intense emotion, whether its romantic love, a fierce ambition, or a strong desire for something. The heart is meant to be the core of the passion and the flame increases the intensity of it.
2) Love and Devotion: A heart on fire is a common symbol of romantic love or devotion. It suggests not just a casual affection but a love that is consuming, powerful, and all-encompassing due to the nature of the flame. In religious and spiritual context, it can represent love for a higher power.
3) Sacrifice and Suffering: A burning heart can symbolize pain or sacrifice. It might represent emotional suffering or the vulnerability one feels when deeply connected to someone or something.
4) Transformation and Renewal: Fire is often seen as a purifying force, and a burning heart can symbolize a personal transformation. It can represent a process of inner change by the flame during the old pieces of the heart.
5) Emotional Conflict: A burning heart can also symbolize inner conflict. It may represent feelings that are difficult to manage or reconcile, such as guilt or jealousy.
6) Inspiration and Enlightenment: Fire is often linked to enlightenment, and a burning heart could symbolize a spark of inspiration or new understanding. It represents the energy that drives an individual forward.
Mythologies
1) The Heart of Prometheus: Prometheus, the titan who defied Zeus to bring fire to humanity, is sometimes described with having a burning heart. A popular interpretation is that he represents a sacrifice for humanity for humanities progress.
2) The Burning Heart of Orpheus: Orpheus is a legendary musician and prophet in Greek mythology. His story is that he had such a strong love for his wife, he went to the underworld to retrieve her. Some versions of this myth describe his heart as burned with grief and love which led him to make poor decisions.
3) The Heart of Shiva: In Hindu mythology, Shiva is one of the principal deities and is sometimes depicted with a burning heart. His burning heart typically represents his intense emotions or actions. Shiva’s dance of destruction often symbolizes cosmic destruction and renewal. This dance includes many fire elements which could connect to the burning heart.
